THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI

Running time: 87 minutes
Box Office opens @ 6:00pm | Doors open @ 7:00 | Curtain rises @ 8:00pm
All Tickets: $5.00
THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI (1947) - One of director Orson Welles' most brilliant works and arguably one of the great American surrealist works of art. Welles' film noir classic follows Michael O'Hara, an Irish seaman, petty criminal, and aspiring novelist (played by Welles himself) through a maze of twists, betrayals, and double-crosses from New York City down the coast of Mexico, to Acapulco, and finally to San Francisco. Rita Hayworth turns in a brilliant portrayal of an abused wife whose seductive machinations transform her into a figure of evil just as monstrous as the sadistic calculating husband (Everett Sloane) whom she plots to destroy. The finale, a shoot-out in a hall of mirrors, is legendary in the annals of avant-garde film. [more...]

MAX RAABE & PALAST ORCHESTER - Recreating the sound of German dance and film music of the 1920s and 1930s, Max Raabe & Palast Orchester embody the style and decadence of Weimar-era Berlin. A singer of incredible range, Raabe can capture the cunning rasp of the cabaret singer, the confidence of the bel canto hero, the carefree timbre of early jazz, as well as the falsetto of ragtime. His talents and humor have charmed audiences around the world.

WAIT UNTIL DARK (1967) - A year after losing her sight in an accident, Susy (Audrey Hepburn) is still learning how to be self sufficient. But when three criminals on the trail of a heroin-filled doll inveigle their way into her home, the stakes suddenly become life or death. Alan Arkin plays what just might be the creepiest psychopathic killer in film history and his two accomplices (Richard Crenna and Jack Weston) are almost as revolting as they manipulate and terrorize the blind Susy. Even 40 years after it was made, this tension-filled spellbinder has not lost an iota of its incredible impact. [more...]

CAPTAIN BLOOD

Running time: 119 minutes
Box Office opens @ 6:00pm | Doors open @ 7:00 | Curtain rises @ 8:00pm
All Tickets: $5.00
CAPTAIN BLOOD (1935) - Starring the great swashbuckling Errol Flynn as a doctor who is wrongly convicted of treason and sold into slavery, this is perhaps the best pirate movie ever made. Rafael Sabatini's brilliant historical novel receives incomparable treatment from director Michael Curtiz and his stellar cast. Captain Peter Blood's sardonic humor, cold nerves, and hot-blooded temper are so perfectly realized by Errol Flynn that it is impossible to think of any other actor in this role. Leonard Mudie as the heartless Lord Jeffries, Olivia de Havilland as the firey Arabella Bishop, Basil Rathbone as the French buccaneer Levasseur... This is literally an unforgettable cast. And you won't soon forget the story of Peter Blood, Captain of the great ship Arabella, virtuoso swordsman, and undisputed master of the waters of the Spanish Main. [more...]
